Poetry (and sometimes music) Friday

Each Friday, in addition to posting links to what I’ve perused the past week (via “The Weekly Town Crier”), I try to highlight something unique. Typically that’s been along the artistic lines, so I’ve posted poetry, free music downloads and links to photography. This week I’d like to expand on that by not only linking to the photography of Timmy Brister, Joe Thorn, Steve McCoy, Joe Kennedy and Alex Forrest (sometimes they have photographs, sometimes they don’t, you just have to take your chances!), I’d also like to include a link to Will Turner who has decided to devote his Fridays, not to poetry or photography, but to history.

This week, due to my surgery, general business and no other real reason, there is no poetry, but I would like to offer some great music for your downloading pleasure. Today’s selection is the self-produced, independent, as-yet-unreleased EP “Songs From Aster” from the artist known as “Lightning Strikes the Bark.”

In reality, this is my good friend Wade Myers. Wade was part of the highly underrated band the Corbans. Since they disbanded, Wade has never given up music and has branched out into electronic music. This EP serves as the fruit of some of his labors and includes one of my current favorite songs “We Sail Across the Silver Sea.” He has graciously agree to allow me to host the files for your download because I’m convinced that more people need to hear this! Drop on over to Wade’s at Ember Burning and thank him for his generosity. In the meantime, Happy Listening:

Thank you for the music Wade! We actually just used a section of “Be On Your Guard” as Pita’s rintone! She’s convinced that you could make a ton of money just doing rintones!

I found this page searching the web for “Wade Myers”. Why would I do such a thing? Because I love the Corbans songs I downloaded (when I was subscribed to eMusic)! I was hoping to find a fansite for The Corbans, but, unbelievably there’s hardly anything out there! I found a review of “When the Godhead Speaks”, which provided me with Wade’s name. But I digress… Wade, your music is a blessing & encouragement to me! Thanks for doing it and I’d love to hear more of the acoustic guitar worship like you made in The Corbans! By the way, I downloaded the 5 songs posted here… great stuff, too!
