Several years ago I made a conscious decision to limit most of my listening to music that is either intionally God-centered and sound theologically (no small feat considering most “Christian” music) or instrumental.

While many understood the focus on Christian lyrics, few shared my passion for instrumental music. The reasons are many, but we have lost the ability to invest in music that does not come easily. Instrumental music often does not come easily. It asks the listener to be patient, to allow the music itself to shape your reaction.

Somewhere along the line I found instrumental music made by Christians! What’s more, its incredibly good instrumental music. Unwed Sailor is one of the few instrumental acts playing squarely in the indie-rock vein. Songs that tell stories without using words. Strong bass-driven melodies and reliable hooks.
