Music Saturday: New Anathallo

March 22nd, 2008 by Brent

Chicago via MI group/collective Anathallo has completed the follow-up to their wonderful Floating World album. The band is currently deciding how to distribute the album, to be called Canopy Glow but in the meantime they have made a new track “Noni’s Field” available on their Myspace page.

It will be interesting to see how the band handles the distribution of the album in light of Radiohead’s recent challenge to the record industry. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the song. I’m looking forward to the rest of the album.

May God’s richest blessings be yours as you reflect on the extent of His love demonstrated through the death His Son on the cross and the awesomeness of His power exhibited through the resurrection.

    To God be the glory!

    That’s a lovely song.

Though I am more a fan of Anathallo’s prog-influenced stuff (i.e. the songs that eschew the pop music verse-chorus-verse-chorus structure) and their brass section. Here’s hoping those get some representation on the upcoming album.

Oh well, I’ve been looking forward to this album ever since I picked up Floating World two years ago. I’m sure it will be great.

If Supertramp were rewriting a logical song with James Taylor in a blue minivan while attempting to get to an early summer picnic at Roger Waters’ home where Andy Partridge was cooking up XTC-cakes and Belew-bear sausage with habanero pepper flakes, it would sound just like Anathallo’s daily offering of harmony, construction, and riff on rye.
