Yes, Even Macs Have Problems . . .

May 17th, 2007 by Brent

I know, I know, it’s hard to believe but even Macs sometimes (but not often) have problems, despite what the ads would have you believe. I’ve been having some difficulties with my hard drive, so my lappy is in the shoppy. It couldn’t have been worse timing either (as though computer problems ever happen at a good time). I’ve been working on my NANC certification questions, I’m doing a wedding this weekend (Congratulations Daniel and Renée!), preaching this Sunday and I finally bought Accordance so I’m excited to get that installed!

I have several posts I’ve been working on, including some thoughts about the wonderful new Jeremy Casella album, thoughts about Christians and love songs, more meditations on the Gospel and the Kingdom, especially Jesus’ ministry and its relation to the Year of Jubilee and all sorts of good stuff. But rather than try to just put something up for the sake of posting I’ll show you the Sad Mac, tell you my sob story and wait for my laptop to return. Thank you for your support.

Funny, I have never had any problems with my Compaq winXP laptop which I have had for almost four years now. But the Mac ads do make me want a mac.

I’ve had this laptop for almost four years and literally used it about everyday during that period. This is the first time I’ve had any serious problem so overall I think that’s pretty good!

It’s interesting, isn’t it, that advertising’s true goal is to create discontentment.

I didn’t know you were working on NANC! That’s pretty cool. I started that process, but had to stop when I left the job that was paying for it. I only went through Track 1, but I had about 1/3 of the questions finished on the exams.

Maybe one day I’ll be able to finish it.

Working on NANC huh? Do you know Greg Stancil? Very good friend of mine. Is a conference director with NANC? He also has a blog - upwardaffections.blogspot.com I am also friends with Mark Redfern. Love the blog!

I have just started the NANC process. I opted for the study-at-home program since it’s difficult for me to make the weekend training seminars. So, I’ve begun my 30 hours of training as well as my exams. I don’t agree with all of NANC’s positions, but I do think they have a lot of things right. I don’t know Greg Stancil. Do you happen to know if he’ll be at the annual conference in Fort Worth in October?

I didn’t know they had a study at home program! Do you have more information about that?

  7. Brent

Sure, it’s essentially your 30 hours of initial tranining. They will send you all of the training lectures on CD along with a notebook of fill-in-the-blank questions to work through as you listen to the lectures.

I just looked and I don’t see where you can order it through the website but all I did was call and tell them that I wanted to order the distance learning program.

    Great! Thank you!
