I recently switched my day off from Mondays to Fridays. I did this for a couple of different reasons. One was to be able to begin the next sermon while the previous one was still very fresh. But the largest reason was to protect my family time. I had found that sermons and other duties were spilling over into Saturday. One of the dangers of ministry that they don’t tell you about in Seminary is that ministry is quite often its own worst enemy. It’s easier to spend more time “doing ministry” than ministering to your own family. God protect me (protect my family)!
So the past two Fridays we have made a special point to spend time together as a family. Last week we went to Waco to the zoo and to see the “famous” (that’s a relative term, isn’t it?) suspension bridge.

Yesterday we went tadpole hunting at Dinosaur Valley State Park here in Glen Rose. It is still too cold for tadpoles but Miles is doing the letter “F for frog” in homeschooling so we had to try! We caught several small fish which looked like tadpoles when in the river water! We quickly released them but had lots of fun. Go and do likewise.

Happy St. Patrick’s day to you and your family! On this day we celebrate the life of a great Welshman. Is your Thomas family from Wales? Mine is. But of course, St. Thomas was a very brave soul, journied very far, was martyred in India, and many people from many places are named after him.
Would you say the dinosaur bit is worth the trip? We’ve talked about checking out their scene at some point.
BJT, from what I understand, our Thomas clan is British but I don’t know much more than that.
Gunny, if your kids are at all into dinosaurs they they ought to enjoy it. There are actual dinosaur footprints to see which are pretty neat.
I love the pictures, it looks like you guys had a lot of fun, and the hat just adds the right touch!! We miss you guys!
Are you making fun of my hat? That’s my tadpole huntin’ hat!
