About Me
I was the Teaching Pastor and an Elder of Grace Community Church in Glen Rose, TX, for three-and-a-half years before leaving to serve as the Lead Pastor/Planter of Church of the Cross, a new work in Peoria, AZ. I believe the Gospel is for the whole person and I long to see God’s people understand all of life in light of Christ’s redeeming work and live wholeheartedly finding their joy in His glory.
My wonderful, beautiful wife and I have committed our lives to equipping God’s people. I am an M.Div. graduate of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY committed to life-long learning. Kristi and I have been married for ten years. We have four boys, Miles, Owen and Carson and Eli. The beard is gone again (click on the picture to see me with various stages of facial hair).
I am blessed to able to collaborate a bit with one of my best friends. Adam Groza occasionally posts for your benefit and mine. Find out more about Adam here.

Hello!
Ever since I found your blog I read it as often as I can. It’s my new favorite blog! You have a great narrative voice and you write with an easy to read and engaging style. Please check out my page http://www.myspace.com/solshine7 and my blog “Soundtrack of my Life” at http://blog.myspace.com/solshine7
Brent,
I have to ask … has anyone taken advantage of the “Buy me stuff” option?
I’m thinking I might like to advertise some of that myself!
If you’re keeping score, this is one more vote in favor of the beard’s resurgence.
Gunny, I’m afraid no one has taken advantage of that yet, but I leave it up just in case . . .
Brent, I recently discovered your site and I am really digging it. The theology, the music, the links, the whole thing.
Another vote in favor of the beard’s resurgence.
It’s nice to see a pastor with such a postmodern method of outreach in his “trick bag”. Thanks. I linked here from the Anathallo site (they’re acquaintances of mine). I’ve also blogged recently on several of your other “fave” topics, like Truman Show, and our president’s reading of The Stranger. As a music fan, you might also get a kick out of a mid-Feb. post entitled “Old School Honky Admits to Liking Some Rap”.
Keep it coming, Brent.
I like the NON-Beard. :)
Hey Brent, you so look Jewish with that beard!
If I were a rich man,
Daidle deedle daidle
Daidle daidle deedle daidle dum!
All day long I’d biddy-biddy-bum
If I were a wealthy man!
Brent,

Brent:
I’m diggin’ your picture up there man. I must say that I too thought you look rather Jewish (nothing wrong with that of course). And then I thought of John Calvin for some reason.
One of these days when I have as much time as you do I will comment on your blog more often. I just wanted to let you know you I think the beard is “hip” and you should grow it again.
ix na on the eard ba. I think you should wholeheartedly go with what your wife likes. The non-beard is a huge change, I prefer it.
Gunny’s lil sis
umm…don’t like the beard. tooo pointy. do like the gotee thingy you sometimes have. what does kristi think of the gotee?
There’s nothing quite like having your facial hair choices open to public critique.
The people in our office took a vote…
4 people to one prefer your look without the beard!
Just thought we should share the result with you!
So now it’s just outright being subjected to public vote, huh? See here for what it looks like currently.
From the looks of things, we have a lot in common. Dead Poets Society is one of (is?) my favorite movies, and I love Anathallo, Woven Hand, and Sufjan. (as well as Miles and Dylan).
Ever hear of the Psalters?
Bryan, thanks for visiting. I do listen to Psalters. In fact, you can always see what I hear here.
